Seared Ahi Tuna Steaks

Restaurant-quality seared tuna coated in sesame seeds. Packed with lean protein and takes only minutes in a blistering hot pan.

  1. In a shallow dish, mix the soy sauce and toasted sesame oil. Place the tuna steaks in the dish and let them marinate for 5 minutes.
  2. Spread the sesame seeds onto a plate. Press both sides of the marinated tuna steaks into the seeds so they are heavily coated.
  3. Heat a heavy skillet (like cast iron) over high heat until it is smoking hot. Add the canola oil.
  4. Carefully place the tuna steaks in the pan. Sear for exactly 1 to 1.5 minutes per side. You want a crust on the outside while leaving the inside raw. Do not overcook.
  5. Remove the tuna from the pan immediately and let it rest on a cutting board for 2 minutes.
  6. Slice the tuna against the grain into thin strips. Garnish with green onions.
